The first edition of the Diamond Capital Convention, organized by Almasi Capital & Advisory, called for a deeper, more transparent and more accessible financial market to finance the real economy.
Organized over three days by the brokerage firm Almasi Capital & Advisory, the first Diamond Capital Convention was held in Douala on the theme “Development, Innovation and Inclusion: The Levers of the CEMAC Financial Market”. It brought together public authorities, regulators, banks, investors, business leaders, development partners and financial sector experts from Cameroon and the entire sub-region.
At the opening, the Minister of Finance, Louis Paul Motaze, representing the Prime Minister, stressed the importance of a financial market capable of mobilizing regional and international savings to finance productive projects and create jobs. The President of COSUMAF, Jacqueline Adiaba Nkemke, for her part, confirmed the regulator’s commitment to more credible markets, with reforms aimed in particular at reducing issuance costs and strengthening financial education.
At the closing, the Managing Director of Almasi Capital & Advisory, Ingrid Obouh Fegue, summarized the discussions around five major convictions, centered on corporate access to markets, risk sharing and the role of finance in transforming the economy. More than 3,000 visitors took part in the event, which ended with the presentation of the Diamond Next Gen Challenge 2026 awards.
In an interview published with the article, Arnold Dongmo, Head of Capital Markets at Almasi Capital & Advisory, believes that the mobilization has exceeded expectations. He affirms the ambition to make Douala a financial hub in Central Africa, with the next edition scheduled for 2028.
